Silk scarves have international flair with exquisite designs and qualities

Scarves from any variety and fabric attract the attention of both genders and of any ages. Scarves are the essential part of fashion as it is worn on any occasion and throughout the year. Your choice can fall on the scarves from different materials like angora, wool, cotton, silk or even fleece or flannel. Silk scarves can serve as outwear or complementary accessories for a particular suit or dress.

Silk scarves … one of the most versatile and easily adaptable fashion accessories are silk scarves. They are easy to wear and yet they can bring an extra tinge of elegance to anyone who wears them. As fashion items, they are mostly worn over shoulders, wrapped loosely around the neck, used to tie down hair or worn as a head wrap.

The constant pulling, folding, knotting or just letting them settle loosely upon the shoulders can pick up natural pollutants from the environment or absorb perspiration from the person wearing them. In such cases, it would be necessary to perform proper ways of caring for these fashion accessories to prolong their good condition. As fashion investments, a silken scarf may cost the owner a considerable amount of money and it is but proper to render them the proper care and maintenance that they would need.

The Proper Way to Clean Silk Square Scarves

There are certain considerations to make before washing and cleaning your silken scarf. Designer silk might react negatively to washing as the process can result to shrinkage or it can diminish the natural sheen that makes this a highly sought fabric. It would be wise to follow the washing or cleaning instruction provided by the care instruction or you could source out a reputable dry cleaner that are qualified and experienced in handling silken material.

A regular silk piece can be hand washed but this would require the use of cold distilled water and woolite. Never soak the garment in a detergent solution and avoid wringing like it was an ordinary laundry. It can be dried by laying it on top of clean towels as absorption materials. Do not dry it over hangers as this might cause unwanted stretching. After removing excess water using towels, lay them on a mesh rack then use a low-intensity air dryer or blower. Never dry the item directly under the sunlight.

Storage Tips for Square Silk Scarves

An integral part of taking care of your silk scarf is proper storage. It would be imperative to note that the piece should be totally cleaned before storage. These are special materials so it should only be proper that the owner allocate designated room for them in their closet or whatever storage area she has available. Accessory rings can also be good place to hang them in as well as large rounded hooks.

The storage area for your silk scarves should also be located away from direct sunlight to prevent unwanted discoloration. The location should also be protected from other hazards such as chlorine, bleach or alcohol. Linen boxes lined with acid-free soft tissue paper can be great storage locations. The point is the storage area should be free from potential snags that can ruin a perfectly good silk scarf .

Have your flower girl throw silk rose petals down the aisle to announce the arrival of the bride. Another popular fabric for wedding decorations is linen, which is perfect at formal parties for tablecloths and covering chairs and is less costly than silk. Affordable materials to use for tablecloths and chair coverings including cotton, polyester, organza and lame. Lame has silver or gold threads to add a gossamer metallic glimmer to any area.

Fabric & construction: – exterior: 100% silk jacquard (ie woven). – same fabric is often used in east asian bridal outfits. – gold thread has slight sheen to it. – medium thickness. – hidden quilted lining inside for durability

One of the most important decisions you will make is fabric choice. Generally, it is best to steer away from synthetics as these types of fabrics do not breathe. Much better to choose silk, linen or cotton as these are all natural fibres that … Brocade is a rich heavy fabric with a raised design, generally with gold or silver threads on a satin weave background. An excellent choice for a period style wedding dress where the bodice and skirt is made of damask.

I will still bet on the Silk Wrap Skirt. This is not a wager, but only a strong expression of opinion. The wrap skirt will win.

I am talking about Multi Wear Wrap Skirts -Reversible – 2 Layered – 100 ways to wear 1 wrap skirt.

To all appearances, this is the age of the wrap skirts. This magic wrap skirt could be, daily expanding and varying to suit the whim of fashion, no one can tell. It may be made to bloom like the cabbage; it may spread out like an umbrella–it would always be casual enough or showy enough to suit us. Undeniably a wrap skirt, especially the multi wear, is very effective, especially in terms of gorgeous color and imaginative design. In its innumerable shades and enlarging proportions, it is a triumph of the designer. It goes along with all the conceits and fantastic unrest of the modern fashion.

Indeed, but for the discovery of the capacities of the wrap skirt, modern life would have experienced a fatal hitch in its development. It helps out our age of plush with a flame of color.

There is nothing shamefaced or retiring about it, and it already takes all provinces for its own. One would be only half-complete- fashionably–without a wrap skirt. A woman wears a wrap skirt as a token of her freedom and the power to create her own style. Young girls who used to express their timid desire with the violet dress, or sequined spaghetti strap, now seeks to bring their emotions to light by the help of the wrap skirts. And it can express every shade of feeling, from the rich yellow of prosperous wooing to the brick-colored weariness of life. It is a little stringy for a designer, but it fills the modern-trained eye as no other dress can fill it.

Is her life set to the note of display, of color and show, with little sweetness, or to that retiring modesty which needs a little encouragement before it fully reveals its beauty? If one were to pass her life in moving in a 1500 cc car from one hotel to another, a wrap skirt around her waist seems to be a good symbol of her life. There are aged people who can remember that they used to choose their dresses, as to their color, fabric, texture and specific cuts and shapes to express the delicate shades of advancing passion and of devotion. What can one do with this new favorite? Is not a Wrap Skirt a sort of take-it-or-leave-it declaration, boldly and showily made, an offer without discrimination, a tenderness without romance?

Are we exaggerating this astonishing rise, development, and spread of the Wrap Skirts? As a fashion it is not so extraordinary as the hoop-skirt, or as the neck ruff, which is again rising as a background to the lovely head. But the remarkable thing about it is that heretofore in all nations and times, and in all changes of fashion, the wrap skirt has held its own stable position as the perfect casual and as the finest expression of sentiment – freedom – breaking away from the fashion rules. The Wrap Skirt is neither an enemy of the trousers nor the dresses. Neither is it to any other gorgeous production of any designer. But it has an old-fashioned love for the modest and unobtrusive virtues, and an abiding faith that they will win over the strained and strident displays of fashion.

Silk is well-known as the queen of fabrics.

It has many fairytale stories on the silk with its early development possibly by 6000 BC. More fabulous features of silk are unveiled by the research which tells people why. Some of them are so interesting that you have possibly never heard that.

Silk Production Life cycle

Silk can be produced by wild caterpillars or mulberry silkworm. Compared to the wild silks, the scale of cultivated silks is far bigger and the quality of silks is more controllable. The most popular type of silk is produced from cocoons made by the larvae of the mulberry silkworm. The whole life cycle of silkworm has four stages: egg, larva, cocoon (pupa), and moth. The commercial silk production happens at the third stage: cocoon or pupa before the pupae make damage by the emerging moth.

It takes around 30 days to become mature silkworm from larva with enough food – mulberry leaves. It spins and makes cocoons, then turns into pupa. The pupa becomes a moth in about 10 days and a moth comes out the cocoon shell. The female moth dies almost immediately after the egg depositing. The male lives only a short time after. The silkworm contributes one of the most luxurious fabrics within a short time life cycle.

Uses

Silk has a wide application in the clothing industry such as formal dresses, fashion clothes, bathrobes, pajamas, scarves, cufflinks, and underwear. It is a perfect all season fabric. In summer silk makes it comfortable to wear in warm weather because of its good absorbency for moisture and its low conductivity keeps warm air close to the skin during winter season.

Also the silk fabric can be transformed with a cashmere-like soft touch through napping so it becomes warmer with this kind of silk scarves and clothes. People love the shimmering appearance of silk but few know the reason. The shimmering comes from the fibers’ triangular prism-like structure which allows incoming light to refract at different angles.

Besides the clothing industry, silk has many uses in other fields such as home decor, military and medical. A piece of hand painted silk scarf can be framed to decorate your home if art is your favorite. The soft appearance disguises one important feature of silk: silk is the strongest natural fiber, even stronger than a steel filament of the same diameter as silk. That is why early bulletproof vests were made from silk until about World War I. Surgical sutures are another application in medicine.

Production

Most of silk production countries are from Asia and China is the largest provider around 80%. Brazil is the only non-Asian country that is on the top ten list. USA is the largest consumer country of silk in the world.

Interesting Number

Some numbers are interesting and few people know that. One cocoon can unravel a continuous thread of1000 meter long. Silk fiber is one of the finest fibers, about 10 nm (1/1,000,000 cm) in diameter. A single kimono takes silk from over 2000 cocoons.

The above information presented shows you why it has such a good reputation in the fabrics world. Silk is definitely one of the top choices for people who love natural and quality fabrics. It is soft yet strong, versatile and comes in the most beautiful colors and designs.

With womens silk scarves you can! Gorgeous, compact, convenient and inexpensive, you’ll be in fashion heaven.

Silk scarves…sometimes the difference between a so-so item and a great looking items can be as simple as a shawl or scarf in the pocket. What’s that you say? One of the easiest ways for ladies to compliment their stylish blazers or a smart looking pant suits are with silk scarves….compact, portable and gorgeous in their portable clothes wardrobe…their pocket.

More than glamorous enough to wear to a fine restaurant and yet casual enough to wear around the board room, this fashion accessories add versatility and style to any wardrobe. So, how do you use them? Although they could be thrown over the shoulder or tied loosely around the neck, generally the preferred way is to wear them is double-knotted and slightly off center (with the knot to either side).

The convenient thing is that they can easily be removed and folded into a purse or even a pocket in case circumstances call for an instant wardrobe change to the ensemble during the day.

Womens silk scarfs are particularly attractive for the shimmering look. That’s the look they have due to the nature of the fibers used to make them. These mostly natural fibers are triangularly shaped and therefore appear to reflect light differently as a person moves. The angles at which light reflects off them cause an effect which is not seen among more common threads and courser materials.

Although there are many imitations, the most famous types comes from silkworm larvae cocoons and are in quality brands such as Hermes and Burberry. But, be sitting down when you see the price! They are very expensive. But, that aside, it’s quite interesting that something which sounds so earthy and slimy can be so gorgeous to wear.

The fabric made from such fibers is also surprisingly utilitarian. They are often worn in places where dust and contaminants may be whirled up from time to time and need to be kept out of the mouth and hair. One of the more intriguing uses for these came in the early years of flying when the aviators were constantly being exposed to harmful fumes from the airplanes. Pure ones were worn over the face to filter out some of the pollutants. Even more amazing is the fact that this fabric from a worm was used in some of the first bulletproof vests and as under armor in ancient times.

Although it doesn’t have enough strength to stop a weapon on its own, this fabric could have made the difference between life and death by keeping an arrow or a long range shot from penetrating the skin too deeply. Not a bad return for such a thin fabric!

By and large most people today will not be needing protection from flying arrows. But, the classy sense of elegance gained by such wear are the main reason they continue to be popular in all sorts of wardrobes.

Because they add such a great touch to business wear or dinner wear, they can make all the difference between an average first impression and a double take. Throw in the convenience and portability and you’ll see why womens silk scarves are here to stay in fashion popularity. Purchase several today and change your clothing look…fast!

40 gauge is for fine wool/fibres (soft merino, merino/silk blends, silks, plant fibres, angora, etc…). Flexi needles are fine and great for applying small features or hair, especially for fabric dolls requiring small amounts of felt

It’s one of those materials that when you see someone wearing it, you just want to touch them because the material looks and feels so incredibly soft. Cashmere is one of the most popular materials in designer clothing

Three sections with significantly finer weft all showed signs of collapse – bright red on the left is the superfine wool again, in the centre is 20/2 silk, to the right is 12/2 cotton (aurifil Mako – a heavy machine sewing thread really). … The section with red superfine wool actually feels almost soft, and I like the bright colour peeping out. I’m feeling quite positive about it at the moment.
